Leconfield sits on the A164 about three miles north-west of Beverley, and A&R Cleaning looks after homes right across the village and its parish. If you are searching for friendly, dependable cleaning services Leconfield residents can book without fuss, we cover traditional window cleaning, fascia, soffit and gutter cleaning, carpet cleaning and pressure washing, either on a regular basis or as a one-off.
The parish takes in more than the main village. We are happy to call at homes in Arram and the hamlet of Scorborough too, so wherever you are between the A164 and the River Hull side of the parish, you can ask us for a free, no-obligation quote.
A village shaped by the Percys, the RAF and the Army
Leconfield has a longer story than many people realise. The moated site of Leconfield Castle, once a home of the Percy family, still survives just outside the village, and the parish church of St Catherine of Alexandria is a Grade I listed building. The name itself is thought to come from Old English for “bog field”, which tells you something about the low, damp ground around here.
In the twentieth century the village grew alongside RAF Leconfield. Since the late 1970s the site has been home to the Army’s driver training, now the Defence School of Transport, and the RAF flew Sea King rescue helicopters from the airfield until 2015. That history explains the mix of homes you see today, from older cottages along Main Street to service-era and post-war houses, council-built semis and newer two, three and four-bedroom homes on the village’s recent developments.
Weather, wind and cleaning services Leconfield homes need
There is a Met Office station at the Defence School of Transport, so Leconfield’s weather is better recorded than most villages. The long-term averages show around 660mm of rain a year and roughly 1,575 hours of sunshine. In practical terms, that means plenty of damp spells for algae and moss to take hold, mixed with bright days that show up every smear on a window.
The open, flat land between the Wolds edge and the Hull valley also lets the wind carry dust, seeds and farm grime straight onto glass, paths and gutters. Homes facing the fields on the edge of the village usually notice it first.
Our four cleaning services Leconfield households use
Windows, cleaned by hand
Our traditional window cleaning is done entirely by hand, with water carried in a bucket, worked over the glass with an applicator and drawn off with a squeegee. Because every pane is worked by hand, frames and sills get attention too, and edges are wiped properly rather than left to dry with drips. That method works just as well on the village’s dormer bungalows and semis as on its modern detached homes, and you can have us call regularly or just once ahead of a special occasion.
Fascias, soffits and gutters
Our fascia, soffit and gutter cleaning takes the green film, dirt and grime off the white uPVC boards fitted along most Leconfield rooflines. We also clear leaves, moss and debris out of the gutters so rainwater can run to the downpipes, which matters on low-lying ground where you don’t want water spilling down walls or pooling by the door.
Carpets
Our carpet cleaning is professional carpet cleaning booked by the room: one bedroom, the stairs and landing, or everything at once. It draws out the dirt that settles deep in the pile, lightens day-to-day stains and smells, and leaves carpets looking refreshed.
Driveways, patios and paths
Our pressure washing takes dirt, algae, moss and grime off block paving, slabs and concrete. On newer estates with block-paved drives, it brings the colour back and clears the green film that builds up between the blocks.
Moving in, moving out and service postings
With the Defence School of Transport on the doorstep, Leconfield sees more house moves than a typical village of just over 2,000 people. Whether you are leaving for a new posting, settling into a new-build home or getting a rental ready for the next occupant, a professional carpet clean and a fresh window clean make the handover easier.
It helps to book a little ahead of your moving date. Carpets are easier to clean once furniture is out, and windows are easier to reach with no boxes stacked against the glass. Send us a few photos and we can plan the job around your timetable.
Tip: if you are moving out, have the carpets cleaned after the last piece of furniture leaves but before you hand back the keys, so the rooms are clear and the clean is the final thing done.
Practical details for booking us
Most Leconfield streets are quiet residential roads with driveways, so access is usually simple. Homes right on the A164 are harder to park outside, so flag that up and we will plan the visit accordingly. Here is how booking normally works:
- Complete the quote form or drop us a WhatsApp message, with a few pictures of whatever you want cleaned.
- You receive a free price and are under no pressure to accept it.
- Choose a one-off clean or a regular schedule that suits your home.
- We turn up, do the work carefully and leave things tidy.
Many households combine services, such as gutter clearing in late autumn once the leaves are down, then a driveway clean in spring after the wet months.
